Common platform launched to boost Inter RECs Visibility during their 5th Coordination meeting

On the sidelines of the Executive Council and the semi-annual Summit of the African Union, the Presidents and Executive Secretaries of the 8 Regional Economic Communities of the African Continent met on Saturday 20 July 2024 in Accra for the 5th meeting of the coordination platform of the RECs.

The meeting was chaired by H. E. Dr. Omar Alieu TOURAY, President of the ECOWAS Commission and Chairman of the RECs platform, in the presence of officials and delegations from the Arab Maghreb Union (AMU), the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD), the East African Community (EAC), the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS), the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

This important meeting for the RECs allowed the official launch of the RECs information platform, www.reccerafrica.org

In his speech, the President of the ECOWAS Commission welcomed the coordination platform and encouraged each REC to take ownership of this web tool which will serve as a communication showcase for RECs.
